Perception, Cognition, Intuition

Cognition is what goes on in our heads.

Reading the book about Interaction Design has influenced my thinking on the infographic.

Once we captured sensations, we have to try to understand it ourselves. What exactly defines a perception around us? Is it the light, the noise?

Perception and Cognition can not only be considered as a standalone factor but always the single parts which interact with each other should be considered.

The sum is more than its parts – Aristoteles

This basically means not the eye sees but the brain which puts it all together. The way how it puts things together is due to cultural conditioning from the past.

This is what we call Cognition: All abilities and processes which help to interprete data.
The way how we interprete such data and connect them influences the creativity. This is what is called intutition.
Emotions play a very important part in creative processes and in many studies it was shown that these play an important part in defining decisions and creative processes.

Stapelkamp says: Only if you consider the whole process, the first thought of the user until the final usage scenarios, than the task of the designers is completed.

Stapelkamp also suggests that Aristoteles expressions should be re-formulated.

The whole is more than just the sum of its part.
