In the context of my theoretical framework I identified aspects of metamorphosis and transformation as relevant for my project. Inspired by Kafka`s “Die Verwandlung” I did a one day exercise during which I looked into visualisations which communicate “transformation” and “being something we don`t want to be” in a visual and multimedia-based way.
This research was manifested in a short video. I did a lot of these mini-videos because they helped me as a conceptual guidance for my interface work.
I tried to translate these feelings (from the short video) in an interface concept. The artefacts of this research can be seen below: They are meant to communicate transformation and re-contextualization of my public persona.

Visual Research/ Inspiration
You see something nice…

…you enter… and it gets darker and darker

into the darkness, the coldness…
You feel something is changing…

you don`t know what it is but it eats you from inside…

…it can transform us into a monster…

…it can happen unexpectedly like a bushfire…

…and then it kills our emotions, make us all similar…
…and then we all do the same boring stuff everyday.. http://www.popcornpainting.com/
..we start feeling sad, we are something we don`t want to be…

…but then we change again, it rips us apart…

…into pieces…

We lose control …

And end up in a space as something new… we have the same consciousness, but everything else is different: perception, life, social relations…

This can happen in a cycle…

…it can start really funny…

…and change just by our context.

…Transformation is natural. The wheather changes every day. It can start sunny, become fogggy..

… and end up in a rainy night….where you are alone… and wait until the sun comesback…http://www.lookingatsomething.com/
…but transformation can also be a very positive..thing.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQPFkjn75Gw

we can come back: Like Phoenix from the ashes…

Visual Forms of Transformation:
Transoformation can be expressed in many visual forms, like in this Hulk Teaser…
Hulk, morphing, unwillingness

Or in the Dreamcatcher Teaser. I never saw the movie but I understood:
Someone is catched in a cocoon, feeling of being afraid, caught and desperate
The Thing: Morphing from dark to dark, no escape blurred world

A network transforms in a funky way into a single spot

A crazy space in which people transform themselves in to the cyberspace: Direct confrontation with the digital self

A guy who seems to have a life he doesn’t want to have http://vimeo.com/70534716

He maybe wishes to be transformed.
Claustrophoby created by transforming walls

Humans abused as instruments as the “Metamorphosis of the Object” ? http://vimeo.com/32282580
The digital-self transforming into things which we don`t know yet what they will be.
My digital-self?

I tried to translate these inspirations in a little video which served me as a guidance for the development of my Interface Animations.
