Public Persona
The public persona is an image constructed from information, which are publicly available about a person. The perception of these information depends on the cultural background and pre-knowledge of the recipient.
Digital Identity
On the other hand there is our Digital Identity, which is connected to us like an ID. There is a very vivid discussion on this topic at the moment and interesting projects are evolving, e.g.: http://prism.andrevv.com .
However, the Digital Identity is not the focus of this work.
Quantified Self
Both, the digital self and the public persona can be quantified and put in numbers and alphanumeric signs.
Examples for the quantified-self are:
Self-experimentations
Behavior monitoring
Lifelogging, lifecaching, lifestreaming
Location tracking
Digitizing body info
Biometric data
Psychological self-assessments
Medical self-diagnostics
Personal genome sequencing
Tacit Understanding of the Digital-Self
A tacit understanding is defined by the inability to be described with words.
Explore some examples for Sense-Making Projects which make use of tacit aspects.
